Rehearsals: An Opportunity to Learn Wonderful Music
Rehearsals are at 7:15 PM – 9:15 PM in the Choir Room at Calvary Church, 31 Woodland Avenue, Summit NJ 07901.
There is no formal audition process to join Concord Singers. While some prior singing experience is assumed, an enthusiasm for learning wonderful music is the only essential prerequisite. Members are expected to have sufficient musical ability to learn the notes, pitch and rhythm of the program selections and to follow the guidance of the Director.
Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from September to May in the Choir Room at Calvary Church, 31 Woodland Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901. General rehearsals start at 7:15 PM and last until 9:15 PM. Once all of the music is introduced, chorus members are provided with audio rehearsal tracks of each individual vocal part.
Sectional rehearsals are periodically scheduled on Mondays at 6:30 before the general rehearsal. In addition, there is a dress rehearsal on the Friday night before each concert.
Members are asked to make regular attendance at rehearsals a priority and if they need to miss a rehearsal to let their section leaders know.
Dues for Concord Singers are $85.00 per concert season, and each year we sing two concerts seasons (September through December and January through May). Dues cover a portion of the cost for director and accompanist salaries, sheet music, guest artists, rehearsal space rental, and more. Ticket sales, program ad sales, patron donations, and grants cover the remaining costs.

Nothing is better than music;
when it takes us out of time, it has done more for us than we have the right to hope for;
it has broadened the limits of our sorrowful life, it has lit up the sweetness of our hours of happiness by effacing the pettinesses that diminish us, bringing us back pure and new to what was, what will be, what music has created for us.
—Juliette Nadia Boulanger, French conductor, composer and teacher, who taught many of the 20th century’s leading composers and musicians.
